Welcome

On behalf of the Union County/Monroe N.C. Friends of NRA Committee, I welcome you to our website. We are pleased that you stopped by, and hope that we will soon be able to meet you in person at out 12th Annual Friends of NRA Banquet.

The Friends of NRA Program is a fundraising event which encourages community involvement and gives 100% of the money raised to various shooting related programs. The NRA Foundation (Friends of NRA) was established in 1990 as a 501( c )( 3 ) tax-exempt organization. The funds raised at our event go to many worthwhile projects such as youth education programs, scholarships, firearm training and safety, range development and conservation efforts which cannot fund themselves. One half of the funds raised at our event will stay in the state of North Carolina, while the other half will be distributed across the United States. These grants are dependent upon the need and propose of the programs across the state and the nation.

Our upcoming event will be held on August 27th, 2011, at the Union County Agricultural Center, 3230 Presson Road, Monroe N.C. The doors open at 5:00pm and the program begins at 6:00pm, with dinner being served at 7:00pm. The agenda for the night includes live & silent auctions, raffles and drawings of selected artwork, merchandise and firearms.

The doorprize for our 12th Annual Friends of NRA Banquet has yet to be decided upon. In addition to a great door prize, we also continue our “Winner Take All” Gun Safe Raffle which will include four firearms and a gun safe. 	Union County NC Second Amendment Scholarship Fund On behalf of the Union County NC Second Amendment Scholarship Fund Committee it is our privilege to tell you about a scholarship program established only for Union County NC college bound students. This year, through a grant request from the NRA Foundation, the Union County NC Second Amendment Committee will be awarding eleven $500 scholarships within Union County. These funds are attributed to the Union County Friends of NRA Banquet, which is an annual event held in August at the Union County Agricultural Center. One Senior from each Union County public high school will be awarded through an essay and other achievements, a $500 scholarship.
